Privacy Policy

Isy is a personal notes app. Your notes belong to you. There are two ways to use it:

By creating an account you agree to this policy on AI and cloud usage. If you'd rather not, keep using Isy without an account.

Without an account

Everything you capture — notes, voice recordings and anything else — is stored only in a local database on your device. We never receive your content and keep nothing about who you are. Isy's AI features are not available without an account.

With an account

Your notes (text, voice audio, transcripts, tags, the connections between notes, your chats with Isy, your daily digests, the map and the AI-built summaries) are stored on our servers, so you see the same notebook on every device you sign in on and can get it back on a new one. Signing in on a phone uploads what is already on it.

Encryption. This data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS everywhere) and encrypted at rest in our database, file storage and backups. Isy's AI servers need to use plain text prompts to provide AI features. Access is limited to the servers that provide the service. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

Sign-in. Accounts are created with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. An email address may be provided by Apple or Google at sign-in and stored with your account; it is never shared or used for marketing.

The web app. On isy-ai.app your browser keeps a copy of your notes so they open quickly. Signing out keeps that copy in the browser for your next sign-in; it is erased if someone else signs in on that browser or you delete your account. On a shared computer, use a private browsing window or clear the site's data after use.

AI processing

With an account, Isy's servers ("Isy Cloud") process your notes: for each note, or for the voice audio, image, or PDF you chose, the content being worked on is sent to an AI provider, and the results (tags, transcripts, connections, summaries, your digest and map, chat answers) are stored in your account. Our providers are Google (Gemini), on Google's paid API terms, for most AI work, voice transcription and reading images and PDFs, and Groq, Inc. as a backup. Neither uses what we send to train its models; content they receive is handled under their API terms. The current list is always in Settings, and we will update this policy before adding a provider.

The content of an AI request is used only to answer it. Our servers' logs record that work happened and how long it took — never the words of your notes. Images are read only when you choose them for "Screenshots & photos"; PDFs are read only when you choose one in Capture → File. Isy keeps the notes you approve, not the image or PDF.

Analytics

We use PostHog for anonymous product analytics — which features get used and whether people come back. Events never include note content: only counts such as "opened the app" or "created a note". For account users these events may be associated with your account id to understand retention. PostHog processes data in the United States (posthog.com/privacy). You can turn analytics off in Settings.

Deleting your account

Delete your account from Settings → Account → "Delete account…". When you confirm:
